Former U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed speculations suggesting that Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Tesla and X (formerly Twitter), could become President of the United States.
Trump made the statement during an address in Arizona on Sunday, firmly stating that Musk's foreign birth disqualifies him from the presidency under U.S. law. “And no, he’s not taking the presidency. He’s not going to be president, that I can tell you. You know why he can’t be? He wasn’t born in this country,” Trump emphasized.
The comments come amid ongoing political discourse, a day after President Joe Biden signed a funding bill into law to prevent a government shutdown. Both Trump and Musk had publicly criticized the earlier version of the bill, which had been negotiated by bipartisan members of Congress.
Musk’s political influence has increasingly drawn attention, particularly after his vocal support for Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania and his reported $200 million contribution to a Political Action Committee (PAC) backing Trump.
Despite Musk’s alignment with conservative interests, Trump dismissed the notion that the tech mogul could ever assume the presidency. He also criticized his opponents for promoting what he described as a “hoax” regarding Musk’s potential political aspirations.
