Following the current economic hardship facing the country, Nigerians have been urged to help the vulnerable and underprivileged in the society especially during this season of love and giving.
The call was made on Monday, by a Non Governmental Organization - Grateful Giving, during the distribution of food items to orphanage homes in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
The food items which include cartons of dano milk, corn flakes, spaghetti, noodles, soft drinks and bags of rice were given to Gideon Orphanage, Aged, Young Widow and Physically Challenged Home and Yemisi Alogi Orphanage and Children’s Home, are situated in Asero Housing Estate, Asero and Fajol Estate, Obantoko areas of the state.
Speaking during the visit, Mr Olugbenga Awe, a representative of the group, Grateful Giving, noted that the gesture to ensure that thoses in the homes could also celebrate a joyous Christmas.
Awe, noted that the organization will continue to support, bring happiness, and a sense of belonging to each inmate.
He advised the children and staff of the homes to build a grateful attitude toward God's provisions, stating that soon it activities will be extended to offering scholarships to deserving children.
"For the past five years, Grateful Giving NGO has been consistently supporting the motherless homes and orphanages with food donations," Awodipe said.
"Despite the economic challenges being faced by the country, our NGO remains steadfast in its commitment to bringing a glimmer of happiness to the lives of the underprivileged" he said.
