The call was made on Monday, by a Non Governmental Organization - Grateful Giving, during the distribution of food items to orphanage homes in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
The food items which include cartons of dano milk, corn flakes, spaghetti, noodles, soft drinks and bags of rice were given to Gideon Orphanage, Aged, Young Widow and Physically Challenged Home and Yemisi Alogi Orphanage and Children’s Home, are situated in Asero Housing Estate, Asero and Fajol Estate, Obantoko areas of the state.
Speaking during the visit, Mr Olugbenga Awe, a representative of the group, Grateful Giving, noted that the gesture to ensure that thoses in the homes could also celebrate a joyous Christmas.
Awe, noted that the organization will continue to support, bring happiness, and a sense of belonging to each inmate.
He advised the children and staff of the homes to build a grateful attitude toward God's provisions, stating that soon it activities will be extended to offering scholarships to deserving children.
"For the past five years, Grateful Giving NGO has been consistently supporting the motherless homes and orphanages with food donations," Awodipe said.
"Despite the economic challenges being faced by the country, our NGO remains steadfast in its commitment to bringing a glimmer of happiness to the lives of the underprivileged" he said.
Responding, the Administrative Manager of Gideon Orphanage Home, Apata Oluwaseun, appreciated the gesture stressing that, the home has over 200 aged mothers, 24 children, over 40 young widows and about 30 persons living with disabilities.
Oluwaseun while admitting that the current hardship had taken a toll on them, maintained that food items would go a long way and serve its purpose.
Also, Tobiloba Emmanuel, founder of Yemisi Alonge children’s home thanked the organisation for remembering them and urged other well meaning members of the society to make helping the vulnerable part of their corporate social responsibility.
