At an event held in Oyo State over the weekend to inaugurate the Oyo State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), key stakeholders emphasized the need for cross-boundary cooperation to address security challenges and promote agricultural development.
Leading the Ogun State delegation, the Senior Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Inter-Ethnic Affairs which also doubled as the Secretary of Arewa Community of 17 Southern States Hadi, called on the leadership of Miyetti Allah and the Farmers Association in Southern Nigeria to strengthen ties.
He highlighted the shared boundaries between Ogun and Oyo, noting that both states possess vast pastoralist-suitable land, which presents both opportunities for livestock development and potential conflict between herders and farmers.
Hadi urged for deeper collaboration to monitor and manage the movement and activities of herders and farmers across the inter-state boundaries.
He affirmed the commitment of His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun toward all-inclusive policies that ensure an enabling environment for legal and productive activities in Ogun State.
He also laud the effort of Ogun State Government on facilitation of ongoing anthrax vaccination of over 400,000 Cattles in ogun state as an intervention to livestock sector from the federal government in an effort to boost food security.
