The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oguduokwor Ward, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has expelled its suspended Southeast National Vice Chairman, Ali Odefa, from the party.
Odefa's expulsion was announced on Wednesday evening during a press conference held by the Acting Chairman of the PDP in Oguduokwor, Onyeka Ovuta, alongside other ward executives. The decision followed the findings and recommendations of the Ward Disciplinary Committee, which investigated allegations of anti-party activities leveled against Odefa.
Ovuta explained that the expulsion is in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution. “Odefa’s suspension and subsequent expulsion were based on the report and findings of the disciplinary committee, which affirmed the allegations of anti-party activities. By virtue of this action, Odefa ceases to be a member of the Peoples Democratic Party,” he stated.
The controversy surrounding Odefa began on September 11, 2024, when the ward executives suspended him over accusations of working against the party’s interests. The Federal High Court in Abakaliki later upheld this suspension on November 29, 2024.
The expulsion marks the latest chapter in the party’s internal disciplinary processes, as the PDP reiterates its commitment to upholding its rules and regulations.
