Ademola Lookman Ruled Out of Barcelona Clash Due to Injury-OXYGIST

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has been sidelined with a knee injury, ruling him out of Atalanta's crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Barcelona and several Serie A fixtures.

Lookman has been a standout performer for Atalanta, maintaining his excellent form from last season. This campaign, the Nigerian international has been instrumental for La Dea, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.

His stellar performances have attracted interest from top European clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool. However, no concrete offers have materialized from these speculations so far.

Atalanta is set to face Barcelona on Wednesday at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in a must-win UEFA Champions League encounter to secure an automatic qualification spot. Lookman would have been a key player in the lineup, but his injury has dealt a significant blow to the team’s plans.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Lookman sustained the knee injury during training and is expected to be out for an extended period. This setback not only rules him out of the Barcelona game but could also see him miss Nigeria’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.

Atalanta is expected to provide an update on the severity of Lookman’s injury in the coming days. Meanwhile, the team will have to navigate their upcoming fixtures without one of their most influential players.
