Veteran actor Patrick Doyle has praised Afrobeats sensation Davido, describing him as the least arrogant among his peers in the music industry. Doyle shared his thoughts in a heartfelt Facebook post, highlighting Davido’s remarkable humility despite his privileged background and the frequent criticism he endures.
Doyle pointed out that Davido, born into wealth and influence, could easily exude arrogance, especially when compared to his peers with more humble beginnings. However, the superstar has consistently displayed grace and modesty, even in the face of relentless attacks from his contemporaries.
In his post, Doyle reflected on a life lesson he learned years ago at a birthday party for Segun Awolowo, held at the stately home of the illustrious Awolowo family in Ikene. He recalled seeing the phrase "Eebudola" (adversity turned blessing) inscribed under the Pisces zodiac sign. Later, he discovered that the late sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo had explained this philosophy as a pattern in his life: how situations meant to harm him often turned into blessings.
Drawing a parallel, Doyle observed a similar pattern in Davido's journey. Despite enduring constant criticism and unprovoked attacks from his peers, Davido has maintained a calm and composed demeanor, refusing to engage in petty conflicts. Doyle attributed this commendable behavior to Davido’s upbringing, particularly the influence of his father, whom he described as an exceptionally humble billionaire.
While Davido’s flashy lifestyle may initially give the impression of arrogance, Doyle emphasized that this demeanor aligns with the demands of the entertainment industry. Beneath the surface, however, lies a respectful and teachable spirit. Doyle recalled instances where Davido humbly accepted corrections from elders without responding rudely, exemplifying the qualities of an “Omoluabi” – a person of impeccable character.
Furthermore, Doyle noted that the unwarranted criticism Davido faces has only enhanced his global standing. The more his adversaries attempt to tarnish his image, the brighter his star shines on the international stage.
Concluding his post, Doyle likened Davido to the embodiment of the “Eebudola” principle, stating that the challenges thrown at him have only fueled his rise as one of the world’s most celebrated entertainers.
