Speaking onbehalf of the NGO, Mrs Olayinka Akinlade, noted that the gesture was aimed at reaching out to the less privileged in the community.
The event which took place at the St. Mary United African Methodist Church Cathedral in Ado Odo on Sunday saw the 40 beneficiaries receiving N5,000 each as support from the NGO .
She explained that the beneficiaries were selected from the indigent members of the church.
" The selection of beneficiaries was done by the church because they really know there members .
"We targeted 40 beneficiaries and they were all given a token of N5,000 each.
" We targeted people that we feel that amount of money could influence there lives even if it's for a day or two.
" This initiative came up as a result of the fact that I and my siblings got together especially after the demise of our parents , we taught of what we can be doing in remembrance of our late parents and to carry on there legacies.
" When they were alive, they were always reaching out to people within Ado Odo community , we just believed we should carry on with such legacies of reaching out to the less privileged , that is the idea about the welfare initiative.
" That was our parents , Julius Oladipo Olakiitan and Florence Folake Olakiitan's church and we the children still worship in the church whenever we are in town," she said.
Akinlade explained that It was a privileged to have the traditional ruler of Ado Odo , the Olofin Adimula of Ado Odo, Oba Olusola Idris Adebowale Lamidi Osolo in Church on Sunday .
" The traditional ruler was encouraged by our gesture and he generously donated N100,000 to be shared among other beneficiaries .
" The traditional ruler appreciated the fact that the token was distributed to indigent members of the community," she said.
