Arsenal FC has been hit with a £65,000 fine by the FA following their players' reaction to Myles Lewis-Skelly’s controversial red card during their Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In the first half of the match, Lewis-Skelly was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Wolves defender Matt Doherty. Referee Michael Oliver made the call, and despite a VAR review, the decision was upheld, sparking debates among fans and pundits.
The FA charged Arsenal for failing to ensure that their players conducted themselves appropriately in the 43rd minute of the match. The club accepted the charge, but in their defense, they argued that their players remained civil and non-aggressive, refraining from any offensive, violent, or provocative behavior.
However, the FA maintained that at one point, nine Arsenal players surrounded the referee, which influenced their decision to impose the fine. Even though the red card was later overturned on appeal, the FA stated that this did not justify the players' conduct or warrant leniency.
