Boniface Unbothered by Failed Saudi Move – Xabi Alonso-OXYGIST

Bayer Leverkusen head coach, Xabi Alonso, has assured that Victor Boniface remains focused and unaffected by his failed transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr in January.

The Super Eagles striker was reportedly close to securing a lucrative €15 million-per-season deal with Al Nassr before the Saudi club opted to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán in a €77 million deal, including add-ons.

Despite the setback, Boniface, who recently returned from a thigh injury, has already made an impact, featuring in Leverkusen’s last three matches and scoring two goals.

Speaking on Boniface’s situation, Alonso emphasized that while the striker was open to a move, he has seamlessly reintegrated into the squad.

“These things happen,” Alonso told the Bundesliga website.
“We spoke before the transfer window, and he was open to the idea of leaving, but he’s happy here. That’s why I don’t think it will be a big stress for him. He’ll switch back in his head, accept that he’s staying, and see his situation positively. He’ll fight for his position in the team.”

With Bayer Leverkusen continuing their strong Bundesliga campaign, Boniface is expected to play a crucial role as the club pushes for domestic and European success.
