A Nigerian lawyer, Egi Nupe, has stirred controversy by claiming that there is no real difference between award-winning singer Davido and controversial street artist Portable, except for wealth and influence.
His statement came in response to Davido’s recent outburst against Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Umar Abba.
Recall that Davido had publicly criticized the police commissioner following allegations that he was acting under directives to instigate unrest in Osun State. The dispute began after Governor Ademola Adeleke accused Minister Gboyega Oyetola of attempting to reinstate sacked local council chairmen, a move that reportedly sparked political tensions.
Taking to his Instagram page, Davido called out the commissioner, urging him to respect the rule of law. In a strongly worded post, the singer wrote:
"Mr. Commissioner, respect the rule of law!!! You are not madder or crazier than us!! Make we all kuru mad!! MEN MOUNT WALAI TO KRF!!! I will post you every day everywhere, Mr. Man!!! Try me, fucker.”
Reacting to Davido’s remarks, Egi Nupe took to his X page to compare the singer to Portable, arguing that their personalities are strikingly similar apart from financial status.
"Remove money, and there is actually no difference between this guy and Portable," he wrote.
His comment has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with his stance, while others argue that Davido and Portable operate on entirely different levels.
