JAMB Confirms March 8 as Final Deadline for UTME Registration, No Extension Planned-OXYGIST

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed that the registration deadline for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) remains March 8, with no plans for an extension.

In a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday, JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, emphasized that the registration period, which began on February 3, will strictly close on March 8, 2025, as earlier announced.

“This deadline has been clearly communicated in all advertisements and the official calendar for the 2025 UTME exercise,” Benjamin stated.

JAMB raised concerns over a recent decline in the number of candidates registering and urged prospective applicants to register early to avoid last-minute issues.

“We wish to inform all prospective candidates that there will be no extension of the registration period. Those interested in sitting for the exam should complete their registration as soon as possible,” he added.

Benjamin disclosed that over 1.5 million candidates have already registered, aligning with JAMB’s expectations for the 2025 UTME cycle. He also explained that the examination calendar is fixed and cannot be adjusted due to multiple scheduled activities, including:

  • Conducting the examination

  • Processing results

  • Managing the admissions exercise

“These timelines are carefully coordinated with other agencies whose operations depend on the completion of our processes. Any extension would disrupt not only JAMB’s schedule but also that of our partners,” he explained.

JAMB has urged all prospective candidates to complete their registration before the March 8 deadline and strictly adhere to the set timeline to avoid disqualification from the 2025 UTME
