Mr. Nigeria Supranatural, Ugo Nwokolo, has accused media personality Nedu Wazobia of coercing him into making the now-controversial statement about being attracted to “poor girls” on The Honest Bunch podcast.
In a recent interview with social media personality Lucky Udu, Nwokolo alleged that Nedu pressured him into making the remark to ensure the episode would generate buzz and go viral.
Back in January, Nwokolo found himself at the center of online outrage after he stated on The Honest Bunch that he is more attracted to women with less financial stability. His comments sparked widespread backlash, with many condemning his stance. However, he now claims he was manipulated into saying those words.
Recounting his experience, Nwokolo explained that after winning the Mr. Nigeria Supranatural title in October 2024, he reached out to Nedu for an opportunity to discuss his journey ahead of an international competition in Poland. According to him, Nedu demanded a hefty N5 million for a feature on the podcast.
He further claimed that his proposed discussion topic was dismissed, with Nedu allegedly telling him:
“You are speaking too much grammar. Nigerians are dumb people who wouldn’t be interested in such a topic. They don’t like intelligent people, so you have to sound dumb.”
After making the payment, Nwokolo said he was later informed that another guest would be joining the episode—something he had not agreed to. When he pushed back, Nedu allegedly promised to refund N2 million after the recording.
On the day of the podcast, Nwokolo claimed he asked for a briefing, but Nedu allegedly insisted that the only way to make the episode work was to say what he was told. When he refused, he was reportedly given an ultimatum: reschedule or forfeit his payment.
Fearing additional costs from traveling between Abuja and Lagos, Nwokolo said he reluctantly complied.
“Poor girls don’t turn me on. Nedu told me to say that,” he revealed, adding that the backlash he received was completely misaligned with his true character.
He also alleged that Nedu boasted about making social media influencer Saida Boj famous.
“It’s against my character to say such a thing because poor girls don’t turn me on. Nedu told me that he owns The Honest Bunch and that I had to pay N5 million. He gave me the option of saying what he wanted, including mentioning a celebrity’s name to go viral. He specifically told me to mention VeryDarkMan.”
“In my lifetime, I have met manipulators, narcissists, gaslighters, and scammers, but Nedu is a discovery.”
Nwokolo’s accusations come just days after actress Yvonne Jegede also called out Nedu, accusing him of setting her up for social media backlash while privately asking her out.
“The drama, especially on Facebook, has been ridiculous—sometimes hilarious—but it calls for deep introspection,” she shared. “The clips cut from my episode were designed to attract trolls, and my brand was subjected to all sorts of dragging. While this was happening, Nedu, who was in my WhatsApp messages asking me out, was simultaneously posting materials that fueled negative attacks against me.”
She revealed that the online harassment escalated to the point where people flooded her son’s social media page with curses, forcing her to take it down. Jegede also denied claims that she paid to appear on the podcast, calling them “totally untrue.”
These latest accusations follow Nedu’s resignation from The Honest Bunch podcast, which came after social media critic VeryDarkMan made his own explosive allegations.
The controversy erupted when BBNaija star DeeOne appeared on the podcast and claimed that VeryDarkMan was gay. In response, VeryDarkMan accused Nedu of orchestrating the attack and even listed names of women whom Nedu allegedly had affairs with.
With these growing controversies, the once-popular podcast host is now facing serious reputational damage.
