Nigeria is Bleeding: Governor Fintiri Criticizes FG’s Economic Policies Amid Rising Hardship-OXYGIST

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has strongly criticized the Federal Government’s economic policies, stating that they are exacerbating the suffering of Nigerians.

Speaking at the Northeast Zonal meeting of the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Reconciliation Committee in Bauchi, the governor expressed deep concern over the worsening economic conditions in the country.

“Nigeria is bleeding. We are suffering. There is too much anger, and the FG’s economic policy is not working,” Fintiri declared, pointing to rising inflation, unemployment, and a declining standard of living as key indicators of economic failure.

He urged the Federal Government to urgently reassess its approach to economic management, emphasizing that policies should be designed with the well-being of Nigerians in mind.

“Whatever will make us cry must not be part of your policy because the country belongs to us. It does not belong to the World Bank, IMF, or the international community,” he asserted, cautioning against the adoption of foreign-driven economic models that do not align with Nigeria’s unique realities.

Governor Fintiri warned that the continued implementation of ineffective policies would only deepen public frustration and widen the disconnect between the government and the people. His remarks reinforce the growing call for a more people-centered economic strategy—one that prioritizes the welfare of Nigerians over rigid macroeconomic targets.
