Aston Villa secured a spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tottenham in the fourth round, with head coach Unai Emery expressing his pride in the team’s performance.
The Spanish tactician lauded his players for their determination and execution, emphasizing the significance of the win.
“I am very happy. It was a fantastic match against a strong opponent, and we played really well,” Emery said.
“After a long time, we are through to the fifth round of the FA Cup. I understand how much this competition means to our fans and the club, and I am thrilled for them.”
Reflecting on the team’s performance, Emery praised their confidence and discipline in sticking to the game plan.
“Our approach was well-executed. We controlled the game and played with great confidence,” he added.
He also spoke about squad depth and the importance of keeping players in peak condition as the season progresses.
“In the coming weeks, we expect some players to return. We also have talents like Doniell Malen, Andres Garcia, Marco Asensio, and Marcus Rashford. Hopefully, we can continue to shape the squad in the way we envision,” Emery stated.
