The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chiamaka Precious, over an alleged assault on a lecturer.
The expulsion was confirmed in a statement released on Friday by the Acting Registrar, Victor Modebelu. According to the statement, the decision followed a report submitted to the Acting Vice-Chancellor by the Student Disciplinary Committee.
The committee found Chimamaka guilty of gross misconduct and a violation of the university’s Students’ Disciplinary Regulations, specifically Regulation 4.
"The Acting Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the University Senate, has approved the committee’s recommendation for your expulsion. You are hereby expelled from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka," the statement read.
Her expulsion comes after a viral incident in which she reportedly assaulted a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Film Studies over a TikTok video.
The university emphasized its commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding ethical conduct within the institution.
The female student of Unizik who fought with her lecturer has been expëlled from the school after the investigation by the school disciplinary committee.
