The Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Dr. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, has charged newly appointed Supervisors and Special Advisers to prioritize service and governance above personal or group interests.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo emphasized that the appointments are both a privilege and a responsibility, urging the new appointees to use the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

“Now, you have an opportunity, it’s your responsibility to do something with it. My counsel is, do something great with this opportunity,” he said.

The chairman reiterated that governance must transcend political interests, stressing that the administration’s focus is on service delivery to the people rather than rewarding political affiliations.
He referenced former President Muhammadu Buhari’s famous words, “I am for nobody, I am for everybody,” urging the appointees to work for the collective good of Abeokuta North.

“we are here to serve for the sake of governance. To provide the best to all. To look beyond group and shatter the shackles of the past acrimonious times and the ills that bedevils our local government politics. It is time for governance. And the government must be about the PEOPLE not the group”.

The Chairman also announced plans to appoint Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) in the near future, a move aimed at driving inclusive governance at the grassroots.
He recognized three individuals for their unwavering commitment since his assumption of office in November 2024 and officially appointed them as Special Assistants:
Chief Akindele – Special Assistant on Environment & Sanitation, and Chairman of the soon-to-be-launched Abeokuta North Safety & Environmental Marshal.

Idris Beita – Special Assistant on Inter-Ethnic Affairs.
Hon. Sunday Afolabi – Special Assistant on Agriculture.
The chairman commended these individuals for their selfless service, noting that they had worked diligently without expecting rewards.

Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in officials, Alhaji Azeez Adedigba expressed gratitude for the appointment and pledged total dedication to their assigned roles.

“We do hereby accept this appointment in good faith, and we promise to carry out our duties without fear or favor, in accordance with our oath of office,” he assured.

One of the respected leaders in the local government and the Babalaje of Egbaland  Alhaji Bakai Okedara, noted that Abeokuta North has always been at the forefront of leadership and wished the appointees success in their assignments.
In his remarks the Organizing Secretary of the APC in Ogun State Hon. Yemi Adelani, urged the new officials to work in total cooperation with the chairman.
“What the chairman needs from you is your full cooperation. You are not here to associate with any leader but to work in total submission to the leadership of the local government,” he stated.
