President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding a crucial meeting with members of the Lagos State House of Assembly at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, amid ongoing leadership tensions within the Assembly.
Speaker Mudashiru Obasa arrived at the Villa at 2:50 pm on Wednesday, while other lawmakers had earlier arrived in two coaster buses. The meeting is widely believed to be linked to the recent leadership crisis that shook the Lagos Assembly.
Obasa was impeached by a group of lawmakers but was later reinstated following interventions from key political figures, particularly the Governing Advisory Council (GAC). However, despite his return, tensions persist within the House, with lingering grievances from the impeachment process.
President Tinubu’s engagement with the lawmakers is expected to address internal conflicts and promote unity within the Assembly. The discussions may also focus on stabilizing governance in Lagos State’s legislative arm.
