Italian Serie A side Lazio has reignited its interest in Nigerian forward Rafiu Durosinmi, who has been making waves at Viktoria Plzeň with his standout performances. The club is eager to secure his signature and potentially unite him with fellow Nigerian, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Lazio had initially pursued Durosinmi during last summer’s transfer window, but negotiations fell through at the final stages. Now, the Biancocelesti have reopened talks and are reportedly willing to offer the 22-year-old a four-year contract.
A representative from MMELL Sports Company, Durosinmi’s management agency, confirmed to Africafoot that Lazio’s latest offer is around €4 million, a fee that aligns with Plzeň’s valuation of the player.
The Lagos-born forward has been in fine form this season, featuring in 10 matches and registering five goals and one assist for the Czech club.
Since joining Plzeň from Karviná in 2022, Durosinmi has played 44 matches, scoring 18 goals and providing 7 assists. His performances have attracted interest beyond Italy, setting the stage for an intense transfer battle.
Lazio now faces stiff competition for Durosinmi’s signature, with Premier League sides Wolves and Leicester City showing keen interest. Scouts from both clubs attended Plzeň’s recent Europa League clash against Lazio, where Durosinmi put in an impressive display despite his team’s 2-1 defeat.
Additionally, Bundesliga side Wolfsburg has been monitoring the striker, further heating up the race ahead of the summer transfer window.
Born on January 1, 2003, in Lagos, Nigeria, Durosinmi is a 1.92m-tall centre-forward known for his powerful presence and goal-scoring prowess. He signed a permanent contract with Viktoria Plzeň in July 2023, which runs until June 2026.
