APC Accuses El-Rufai of Nursing a Bruised Ego Over Ministerial Snub-OXYGIST

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired back at former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following his recent criticism of the party. The ruling party accused him of being blinded by ego and driven by a personal vendetta after failing to secure a ministerial appointment under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a recent interview with BBC Hausa, El-Rufai claimed that the APC has abandoned its progressive ideals, becoming a platform for self-serving politicians. He also criticized President Tinubu's administration, alleging that it had failed to deliver on its promises.

However, responding in a statement on Monday, March 17, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed El-Rufai’s claims as a smokescreen to disguise his personal grievances.

The ruling party accused El-Rufai of attempting to "collapse the system" out of frustration over his failed ministerial bid. APC maintained that its commitment to its founding values remains strong and accused the former governor of self-interest and hypocrisy.

“El-Rufai has been traumatized by his inability to secure a ministerial position and is now lashing out at the very party that brought him to political prominence,” the statement read.

APC further questioned his decision to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP), arguing that his new political home lacks the ideological foundation he claims to seek.

The APC insisted that President Tinubu’s administration is delivering tangible progress, dismissing El-Rufai’s claims as bogus distortions of reality. The party assured Nigerians that it remains focused on its bold and transformative policies, which are already birthing sustainable growth across all sectors.

El-Rufai’s defection to the SDP, the statement concluded, is driven by self-interest, not a genuine concern for the country.
