AfroFuture Festival is making history with its first-ever U.S. edition, set to take place in Detroit on August 16-17, 2025. Leading the star-studded lineup are Nigerian Afrobeats icon Davido, Grammy-winning producer Kaytranada, and Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley, promising an unforgettable weekend of music and culture.
Formerly known as Afrochella, the festival has been a major cultural event in Ghana since 2017, celebrating African music, art, and heritage. Now, for the first time, it’s bringing its signature blend of Afrobeats, Amapiano, hip-hop, and electronic music to an American audience.
Joining the headliners is Nigerian highlife sensation Flavour, known for the hit Nwa Baby, alongside rising Afrobeats star Lojay, the voice behind the global smash Monalisa. French-Congolese singer and rapper Gims, a powerhouse in both African and European music, will also take the stage, along with Brazilian funk sensation Ludmilla.
The festival will be held at Bedrock’s Douglass Site in Detroit and will be produced by Paxahau, the team behind Detroit’s Movement Festival and the Detroit Jazz Festival. Beyond the music, AfroFuture will feature a marketplace showcasing Black designers, interactive cultural exhibits, and vibrant parties hosted by collectives like Jerk X Jollof, Days Like This, Obi’s House, and Toasted Life.
AfroFuture CEO and co-founder Abdul Karim Abdullah described the festival as a dynamic fusion of music, fashion, beauty, and food—a space to celebrate Black culture while embracing innovation.
Presale tickets are available starting today, March 20, 2025, with Delta Airlines offering discounted flights for attendees traveling to Detroit.
