Students from tertiary institutions across Ondo State took to the streets on Thursday morning, protesting against the escalating cases of kidnappings and insecurity in the region.
Led by NANS South West Chairman, Oluwarotimi Joshua, the protesters blocked major roads in Akure, the state capital, causing heavy traffic as they demanded immediate action from the state government and security agencies.
The demonstrators carried placards with bold messages, expressing their frustration over the government's alleged negligence in ensuring the safety of lives and property.
They accused the state authorities of failing to take concrete action despite several engagements and peaceful dialogues regarding the security situation.

Efforts by Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, to disperse the demonstrators and clear roadblocks were met with strong resistance from the protesting students, who remained firm in their demands.
The protest underscores the growing frustration among students over insecurity and other challenges, urging the government to take decisive action before the situation worsens.
