Renowned Afrobeats singer, Timaya, has raised concerns over the widespread destruction of farmlands and crops by herders in his home state, Bayelsa.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page, the singer called on the government to take urgent action to address the issue, expressing deep sadness over the loss of valuable agricultural lands.
Timaya also used the opportunity to condemn open grazing, urging herders to embrace more modern and sustainable practices, such as ranching.
In his post, he wrote:
“Please, the government should do something. They are destroying farms in Bayelsa. Aboki, take your cow inside and feed them. This is so sad.”
His statement has sparked discussions on social media, with many echoing his call for better regulations on livestock management to protect farmers' livelihoods.
