Popular media personality, Toke Makinwa, has encouraged women to embrace financial support from men, stating that there’s nothing wrong with it.
Speaking on her podcast, Toke Moments, she advised women not to lower their standards or allow societal expectations to dictate their relationships.
Toke emphasized that women should seek partners who align with their needs instead of feeling pressured to compromise.
“You don’t need to lower your standards. There are over a billion people in this world—find someone who has what you’re looking for. Stop letting society dictate for you.”
She also addressed the criticism faced by women who expect financial support from their partners.
“If people call a woman ‘money-hungry’ because she wants a man to pay her bills, that’s their business. If you can’t pay her bills, leave. There’s another man out there who is willing to.”
Toke further urged people to avoid unnecessary debates about personal preferences, stating that judging others often reflects one’s insecurities rather than objective criticism.
"We make things harder than they are by fighting online over opinions. If someone isn't what you’re looking for, simply move on instead of trying to criticize them."
