Hon. (Dr.) Abike Dabiri-Erewa, is set to deliver the convocation lecture at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, as the institution holds its 15th Combined Convocation Ceremony on Tuesday, June 24.
This was disclosed during a press briefing addressed by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Arc. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso, on Thursday, at the Administrative Building of the institution in Abeokuta.
The Rector said Abike Dabiri-Erewa, a renowned advocate for diaspora engagement and national development, will speak on the topic: “Diaspora Perspective and the Influence of STEM in the Globalized World of Today.”
“This lecture promises to be thought-provoking, forward-looking, and aligned with the national discourse on development through diaspora engagement.”he said.
Describing the upcoming event as more than ceremonial, Dr. Jolaoso said the convocation represents a new dawn at MAPOLY under his administration, which began six months ago.
He highlighted key achievements including the restoration of staff and students’ confidence in the system,ongoing infrastructural renewal and upgrades, Improved academic calendar and seamless academic activities, engagement with industry and alumni for institutional support, rebranding of the Polytechnic’s image and identity in line with global best practices.
Dr. Jolaoso appreciated the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his support, and also commended the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, and the institution’s Governing Council for their continued guidance.
His words” This ceremony marks a significant milestone in the history of our great institution, as it will be the first convocation ceremony since the 2014/2015 academic session, covering nine academic sessions (2015/2016 to 2023/2024).
“This occasion therefore stands as a major achievement for this administration and indeed a testimony to the renewed spirit of progress within MAPOLY.
“Convocation Statistics and Scope
During the convocation ceremony, we shall be awarding National Diplomas (ND) and Higher National Diplomas (HND) to a combined total of over 51,000 graduands across various schools and departments of the Polytechnic. These include full-time and part-time graduates from all programme”he said.
Jolaosho also assured that there would be a continued convocation ceremony in the school, adding that the school now has a deliberate and articulated academic calendar in his own administration as Rector of the Polytechnic.

The convocation will also feature the conferment of Honorary Fellowship Awards and Awards of Excellence on distinguished Nigerians who have made significant contributions to education, industry, and society.
