Governor Dapo Abiodun stated this at the 2025 Public Service Day Celebration at the Oba's Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, noting that his administration would continue to appreciate the state workforce and ensure their motivation towards building a more effective and accountable public service.
Abiodun represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, disclosed that he was committed to reforms that would promote efficiency, transparency, creativity and professionalism in the civil service, while acknowledging that innovation in public service does not just require reinventing the wheel but also requires refining existing systems, streamlining processes, removing bottlenecks and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Governor Abiodun added that efforts to digitise public service operations were ongoing, stressing that his government’s goal remains ensuring a public service that is modern, responsive and capable of meeting the evolving needs of citizens.
While applauding the Leadership of Public Service for putting the event together, he expressed appreciation to all the public spirited individuals who have committed their talent, time as well as energy to public service, calling them, the life blood of governance, who were continuously working tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver essential services, implement government policies and uphold public trust in government.
He resonated his administration's commitment to constant reforms and progress through the ‘Building our future Together Agenda’, saying that he remains firmly committed to improving the welfare of public servants
Speaking, Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, gave kudos to all civil servants for making the present administration a peaceful one, urging them to remain focus and dutiful, calling on top echelon in public service to motivate their workers and give them necessary support.
The Senator representing Ogun Central, Senator Shuaib Salis, in his lecture titled, 'Managing the Public Service for Excellence and Service Delivery in the 21st Century: The Role of Innovation, Adaptation and Technology,' said the role of public servants was not just service delivery but an engine room for policy formulation and implementation for any government.
In his address, Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun, for his consistent prioritisation of the welfare of workers, through projects and initiatives that continues to dignify the public service of Ogun State, saying it had been described as the engine room of government which would continue to change the trajectory in-terms of shaping and reshaping the service of Ogun State which was adjudged as the best in the country.
Responding, the Chairman, House Committee on Establishments and Public Service Matters, Hon. Babatunde Tella, noted that this year’s theme, was both a challenge and call for action, saying the pivotal role public service plays in our democracy cannot be over emphasised, calling on public servants to remain relevant, resilient and continue to adapt and harness the power of technology towards enhancing good governance.
Chairman Trade Unoin Congress, (TUC) Comrade Akeem Lasisi, represented by Comrade Adebiyi Olusegun, applauded the commitment of the State Government for releasing gratuity as and when due, training and retraining of workers, consistent provision of utility vehicles, payment of leave bonus, calling on the attention of the State Government to the Contributory Pension Scheme and release of promotion letters.
A former Head of Service, Elder. Sola Adeyemi, urged public servants to embrace Innovation, adaptation and technology as they play crucial role in public service as well as aid the day to day running in government, adding that it would also enhance citizen’s engagement and efficiency and improve life for citizens.
