Panic and sorrow have gripped the people of Arondizuogu in Imo State after unknown gunmen unleashed terror on three communities in the early hours of Thursday, July 25.
The brazen attack occurred in Ndi-Ejezie, Umualaoma, and Ndiakuwata Uno—villages within Ideato North Local Government Area. According to eyewitness accounts, the heavily armed assailants stormed the communities in large numbers and opened fire on residents without warning, killing at least seven people and leaving many others injured.
Disturbing videos circulating online show lifeless bodies soaked in blood, sparking outrage and grief across the region.
Confirming the incident, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, condemned the attack in strong terms, describing it as "barbaric, inhumane, and completely unacceptable."
CP Danjuma assured the public that the Police Command has deployed both tactical and intelligence teams to track down those responsible. He also led a specialized unit to comb the affected areas, affirming that the situation is now under control.
"We are taking all necessary measures to prevent further attacks and to restore peace to the region. Our hearts go out to the families who lost loved ones, and we pray for the quick recovery of the injured," the CP said.
