Renowned Nigerian gospel artist, Nathaniel Bassey, is taking his spirit-filled Hallelujah Challenge behind bars and it’s unlike anything he’s done before.
The singer announced a one-day special edition of the popular praise and worship event, dubbed the “Kirikiri Edition,” which will be held on August 27, 2025, at the Kirikiri Medium Security Prison in Lagos.
According to Bassey, this unique outreach is part of his personal birthday wish a heartfelt desire to bring hope, healing, and salvation to inmates through the power of worship.
Taking to Instagram, he shared:
“Later this month, 27th August 2025, I would be leading my brethren in the Kirikiri Medium Prison in a Hallelujah Challenge Praise and Worship special session. This is my heart’s desire for my birthday. We’ll praise, eat together, and afterwards give out some scholarships.”
The day promises more than just praise; it will include food distribution and the awarding of scholarships to selected inmates a gesture aimed at transforming lives from the inside out.
Referencing the biblical story of Paul and Silas (Acts 16:25–26), Bassey explained that this initiative mirrors the very first Hallelujah Challenge:
“Though we may not stream this for security reasons, you can pray along with us. We trust God for liberty of the spirit and massive harvests of souls.”
While the Kirikiri edition may not be broadcast live, Bassey is inviting his fans and followers to join in spirit and prayer, believing that the atmosphere of worship can break chains both physical and spiritual.
Meanwhile, fans can mark their calendars: the regular Hallelujah Challenge is set to return in October 2025.
