The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed has urged Corps Members to make the best use of their Service Year.
The DG gave the charge while addressing the 2024 Batch A Stream one Corps Members at the NYSC Ogun State Permanent Orientation Camp, Sagamu.
“Don’t allow your service year to go idle without utilizing it. No single hour should go unproductive. You must continue to do something in line with your goals.” he said.
General Ahmed also warned Corps Members against posting camp activities on social media, adding that whatever is recorded should be for personal consumption.
He enjoined them to key into the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Program to be wealth creators, adding that the Scheme is collaborating with several financial institutions such as Bank of Industry, Access bank, Wema bank, NNPC Foundation and others, to give Corps Members interest free loans and grants.
While warning against unnecessary and unauthorise journeys, he charged them to take their personal security seriously..
Earlier in her welcome address, the State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Diana Nasamu reported that the Corps Participants have been well behaved and adapted to the regimented life on camp.
Adding to the joyous atmosphere on camp, the NYSC helmsman made a cheerful donation of four fat cows and cash gift to several categories of Corps Members.
In the DG's entourage were the Director Special Duties, Mrs. Bona Fasakin, the Director Press and Public Relations Unit, Mr. Edwin Megwa among others.
