Lagos State Task Force has intensified its enforcement of the 'Okada Ban,' seizing 106 motorcycles across various locations in the state. The operation, which took place on Tuesday, August 27, was highlighted in a post by Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sanwo-Olu on New Media.
The task force targeted key areas, including Iyana-School bus stop, First Gate bus stop near Igbo-Elerin, Iyana Iba-LASU Expressway, Megida bus stop, and Ayobo roundabout. These locations have been hotspots for motorcycle activities despite the ongoing ban.
Gawat's post detailed the operation, stating: "The Lagos State Task Force #Taskforce112 carried out enforcement at Iyana-School bus stop, First Gate bus stop by Igbo-Elerin, along Iyana Iba-LASU Expressway, Megida bus stop, and Ayobo roundabout. A total of 106 motorcycles were impounded during the enforcement operation."
The move is part of the Lagos State government’s ongoing efforts to maintain order and safety on the roads by enforcing the ban on commercial motorcycles in certain areas. The crackdown is expected to continue as the government seeks to address concerns related to traffic congestion and safety.
