Mrs. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General and daughter of President Bola Tinubu, has successfully mediated and resolved the ongoing conflict between the National Butchers Union of Nigeria and the Lagos State Butchers Association.
The dispute had been fueled by attempts from the Lagos State chapter, under the leadership of the former state Chairman, Alhaji Bamidele Kazeem, to break away from the national body. These attempts led to tensions within the union.
During a crucial meeting held on Monday, which included the union’s National President, John Adun, and other key stakeholders from both the national and state chapters, Tinubu-Ojo urged all parties to prioritize peace and collaboration. After carefully considering the perspectives of the various representatives, she emphasized the need for unity.
She stated, “Since the state body has pledged its allegiance to the national body and was inaugurated by them, it is important for the Kazeem-led group to work in harmony with the national leadership.”
Mrs. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo also cautioned against greed and betrayal among leaders, stressing that disputes should be addressed promptly to avoid escalating into violence or public disorder. She underscored the necessity of fair distribution of welfare among all members, condemning any favoritism towards loyalists within the union.
Following the resolution of the crisis, Elder Shola Adetele was appointed as the interim chairman of the Lagos State Butchers Association by the national body, marking a new chapter of cooperation and peace within the union.
