Reports indicate that Emmanuella took to the streets because her family could no longer afford her school fees or their house rent. Speaking to a reporter at the protest, she expressed her concerns:
“My name is Emmanuella, and I am here to protest because the government needs to reduce the price of things. My dad can’t afford my school fees and house rent. Also, Nigeria is no more like before. Now if I want to buy a biscuit for 50 Naira, they will say it’s hundred.”
