Folakemi Falana, an entertainment lawyer and daughter of renowned legal expert Femi Falana, has announced that controversial activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), will be facing legal action after failing to retract accusations made against her father and brother, the musician Falz.
In a statement shared on social media, Folakemi expressed her frustration, stating that VDM had ignored the 24-hour ultimatum to apologize and withdraw his defamatory claims. The accusations came after VDM reacted to an alleged audio conversation between Bobrisky and another man, which led him to insinuate that Falz and Femi Falana were involved in bribery and corruption.
Despite legal warnings from the Falana family’s lawyers on September 25, VDM refused to back down, maintaining his stance that he had not defamed either the rapper or his respected lawyer father.
Folakemi, deeply disappointed by the situation, confirmed the family's decision to pursue the matter in court. She addressed VDM directly, writing:
“My parents and our firm, Falana & Falana, have been helping Nigerians secure presidential pardons for free long before many of you were even born. Yet, some people still choose to believe baseless accusations made by a ridiculous character like VDM.”
She emphasized the absurdity of the claims, adding:
“To suggest that my father and brother could be involved in bribery or corruption is outrageous. For VDM to go further and accuse Falz of being involved in a homosexual relationship with Bobrisky is beyond shocking. What’s even more baffling is that some people actually believe this nonsense.”
Clarifying the facts, she outlined:
-My father has never met or spoken to Bobrisky, either directly or indirectly.
-Bobrisky contacted Falz, as he did with many other celebrities, asking for financial help. He never discussed a presidential pardon, and Falz had no reason to suspect otherwise.
-Do you really think my father or Falz need Bobrisky’s money? For what?
With VDM refusing to apologize, Folakemi concluded saying
“Seeing as you’ve refused to do the right thing, we’ll see you in court.”
