The Outgoing State Commandant during his welcome speech thanked the Special Guest of Honour for his commitment to the security and welfare of officers across various agencies in Ogun State especially his concerns on the safety of lives and property of the people and inhabitants of the State.
He noted that he had made several improvements on the State Command's edifice in terms of: concrete flooring of the structure to bring aestheticism and ambience to the office thereby ensuring good working environment for all personnel; solar electrification of the surroundings to put the environment in clear vision especially during the night time; refurbishing the State Command's Conference Room to meet up with the standard as expected and most importantly, the construction of the ultra-modern quarter guard for regimentation and operational efficiency of officers and men of the State Command.
While commissioning the quarter guard and taking the first ever presentation and salutation on the quarter guard platform, the representative of the governor at the event urged the officers and men to see the projects of the outgoing State Commandant as a testament of his commitment to improve the capacity of officers in terms of regimentation, standard of operation and to ensure international best practices in the area of security.
In the same vein, the State Command decorated 805 senior officers who were recently promoted in the 2024 senior officers promotion exercise by the Board of Civil Defence, Immigration, Correctional and Fire Services in a ceremony held at the Ogun NSCDC Cooperative Building, Owu Dekudu Village, Off Kobape Road, Abeokuta, just immediately after the commissioning programme of the ultra-modern quarter guard.
Present at the ceremonies were: the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Cabinet and Service Matters, Alhaji IO Saka mni; Olori Aderonke Adeogun representative of the Olu of Igbore, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
We had the following Service Commanders at the occasion: the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Abiodun Mustapha Alamutu ably represented by ACP. Manger Fergus; Captain I Sani representative of the Brigade Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade Alamala, Brigadier General MT Aminu; the State Director of Security, Department of State Services, Peter Afunanya PhD, fsi, mnipr, was ably represented; Commander of Narcotics Tijani Rabe, the State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency; the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Corps Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin; Lt. MB Ibrahim representative of the Commandant, Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Abeokuta; DCI Helen Taiwo Adebanjo, representative of the Comptroller of Immigration Service.
Others include: Commandant AA Adeyinka, representative of the Zonal Commander, Zone F Headquarters, Abeokuta; DCC Ifabiyi Johnson Oyeniyi, the Acting Provost, College of Security Management, Abeokuta; ACC Moruf Yusuff, representative of the State Commander, Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So Safe Corps), Dr. Soji Ganzallo; ACC UC Ogugu, representative of the Customs Area Comptroller, Abeokuta; AC Adedeji Tesleem, representative of the Chief Executive Officer/Trace Corps Commander, Dr Seeni Ogunyemi; SF Owolabi Abiodun, representative of the Commanding Officer, Federal Fire Service and a host of other dignitaries at the programme.
The Chairman, 2024 decoration committee of the senior officers in the just concluded decoration ceremony, DCC BB Oni thanked most especially, the Executive Governor of Ogun State for his commitment to security and finding time to send someone to grace the events. He went ahead to appreciate the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; the Board of Civil Defence, Immigration, Correctional and Fire Services; the Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni, OFR and the Outgoing State Commandant, David Idowu Ojelabi PhD, mni, fspsp; Service Commanders; friends and relatives/colleagues; the media and all well wishers for their time and energy and prayed for God's divine mercy back home.
While delivering their goodwill messages at the event, the representatives of: the Commissioner of Police; the Brigade Commander; the State Director of Security and the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Cabinet and Service Matters, all noted that promotion simply means a demand and a challenge to do more. They all agreed that everyone that has been privileged to be promoted should see it as a way to contribute more to the development of the organization wherein they work.
In capping up the goodwill message, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Ogun State on Security, AIG Olusola Subair (Rtd ,) who also doubles as the representative of the Special Guest of Honour, urged officers to be more committed, dedicated and to strive to always be more professional in their lines of duty. He enumerated various expectations from security personnel as established by standards of operation and international best practices across the world.
