Speed Darlington’s mother, Queen, has raised the alarm over her son's disappearance, alleging that Afrobeats star Burna Boy and his team may be involved. In an emotional video shared on Tuesday, she revealed that her son’s gateman informed her of Speed Darlington's arrest, allegedly orchestrated by Burna Boy and his associates.
According to Queen, this unfortunate event followed Darlington’s public remarks questioning Burna Boy’s connection with American rapper and producer P Diddy, who is currently facing multiple legal battles in the US.
Clearly distressed, Queen went on her knees, pleading for her son’s release and urging Burna Boy to "tamper justice with mercy." She expressed her fears, stating that she resides outside Nigeria and cannot physically intervene, while her son remains in detention.
“Nigerians, I need your help. My son, Speed Darlington, has been missing for over four days. This happened after he posted a video about Burna Boy and Diddy. Burna Boy showed up at his house with his crew and some police officers, and they took him away. Akpi is my only son. Please help me beg Burna Boy to release him,” she said tearfully.
Her plea comes after a video surfaced on Tuesday showing Speed Darlington in handcuffs, heightening concerns about his well-being.
The controversy started when Speed Darlington mocked Burna Boy in a video, questioning his relationship with P Diddy, who was recently arrested on serious charges including human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Darlington also hinted at questionable circumstances surrounding Burna Boy’s Grammy win for Twice As Tall, an album for which Diddy served as executive producer.
Speculations have since risen that Speed Darlington’s critical comments may have triggered his arrest.
