The Accord Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has announced the expulsion of its 2023 presidential candidate, Professor Christopher Imumolen, along with seven other members. The decision, made during a meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, follows allegations of serious misconduct, anti-party activities, and breaches of the party’s constitution.
In a statement signed by the party’s national chairman, Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, and national secretary, Dr. Adebukola A. Ajaja, the NEC emphasized that the expulsions were based on recommendations from a seven-member disciplinary committee.
“The NEC unanimously endorsed disciplinary measures against individuals who engaged in actions that factionalized the party, tarnished its reputation, and violated its constitution,” the statement declared.
Alongside Professor Imumolen, the following members have been expelled:
- Lanre Ogundare – Lagos State Chairman
- Surajo Ibrahim – Zamfara State Chairman
- Muktar Abdalla – Borno State Chairman
- Chief Abiola Samuel Odeoba – Former Ekiti State Chairman
- Dr. Falaye Ajibola – Former Ondo State Chairman
- Dzingina Jacob Ephraim – Nasarawa State Chairman
- Prince Adebisi Wale Ganiy
Additionally, three party members have been suspended:
- Salimu Lawal Boyi – Katsina
- Fatima Mohammed Zarumi – Yobe
- Abdullahi Isa Kasowa – Bauchi
The NEC reaffirmed the importance of adhering to the party’s constitution to maintain order and unity. It also expressed confidence in Barrister Mgbudem’s leadership, commending his efforts to reposition and rebrand Accord ahead of the 2027 elections.
