A US-based Nigerian woman, Princess Ada, has stirred online discussions with her bold stance on the traditional practice of bride price.
In a Facebook post, Princess Ada argued that a father with self-respect should not accept bride price for his daughters, as it undermines their value. She emphasized that rejecting the practice sends a strong message that daughters are not commodities to be "sold."
“No self-respecting man who loves his daughters should collect any bride price for them,” she wrote. “You should send a clear message that your daughters are not for sale.”
