Nigerian comedian and activist Mr. Macaroni, also known as Adebayo Adebowale, recently took to social media to call out Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the deteriorating state of Lagos roads.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Macaroni urged the governor to prioritize road repairs and ensure safer conditions for residents. His comments highlighted the risks posed by potholes and poorly maintained infrastructure, which have become a growing concern for Lagosians.
With a touch of sarcasm, Mr. Macaroni referenced the governor’s frequent appearances at the airport to welcome the President back from international trips, suggesting that Sanwo-Olu should instead “take a drive around Lagos roads” to witness the hazards firsthand. “One of these days, when you’re not too busy with the serious task of airport visits, please assess the condition of Lagos roads and explain why lives are being put at risk,” he remarked.
Mr. Macaroni’s post reflects the frustrations of many Lagos residents who feel that urgent action is needed. He emphasized that potholes and damaged roads are causing frequent accidents, endangering both lives and property.
In a final call to action, Mr. Macaroni urged Sanwo-Olu to “do better,” echoing the widespread sentiment that the government should focus more on improving public welfare than on ceremonial duties.
