Manchester United's reported pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has ignited excitement among fans, with talks of a possible swap deal involving Joshua Zirkzee.
The 25-year-old Nigerian forward, currently dazzling on loan at Galatasaray, has been in stellar form this season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in just nine appearances for the Turkish giants.
Italian journalist Gerardo Fasano revealed that United's new head coach, Ruben Amorim, is eager to bring the prolific striker to Old Trafford. In a potential deal, United may offer Zirkzee, who has struggled for form, in exchange for Osimhen.
"Manchester United is said to be on the trail of Victor Osimhen. I have been told that the English, through mister Amorim, could include the former Bologna striker Zirkzee in the negotiations for Osimhen," Fasano disclosed to Area Napoli.
The news has sent United fans into a frenzy, with many expressing their excitement on social media platform X.
“I want Victor Osimhen in Man United,” fan Akan Imoh tweeted enthusiastically.
Another user, @bennimxUTD, believes Osimhen could elevate United's title ambitions, stating, “Beautiful. Bring him, he will make us the title contender.”
Even fans who initially had their sights set elsewhere are onboard. @groovymono wrote, “I know I’ve been singing Gyökeres praises lately, but Osimhen is and still remains my dream striker for Man United. Højlund can become like Gyökeres with hard work, but Osimhen has no replica.”
Others echoed similar sentiments, with @zadde_yo hopeful, tweeting, “Osimhen to United, God make this a reality,” and @Qamarul_Mohd simply declaring, “Victor Osimhen should join Man United.”
Osimhen has been a standout player since joining Napoli, boasting 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 appearances. This incredible performance has made him a coveted target across Europe, with Chelsea and Arsenal reportedly also showing interest.
Despite United’s struggles this season—current strikers Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund have managed just three Premier League goals between them—Osimhen could provide the firepower needed to reignite their campaign.
While Napoli remains firm on their star striker, Osimhen’s decision to reject lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia in favor of staying in Europe signals a potential openness to a Premier League move. His contract with Napoli runs until 2026, making this a critical window for negotiations.
