The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed reports claiming the suspension of Barr. Venatius Ikem, the chairman of the party’s Cross River State chapter.
In a statement issued by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, the NWC described the alleged suspension as baseless, unconstitutional, and of no effect, reaffirming Ikem’s position as state chairman.
“For clarity, no State Working Committee has the authority to suspend a state chairman without proper consultation and approval from the National Working Committee, as stipulated in the PDP Constitution,” the statement emphasized.
The NWC urged party members, stakeholders, and supporters in Cross River State and across the country to disregard the purported suspension and continue rallying behind Ikem.
“We call on all members of our party in Cross River State to stay united and work together in the interest of the PDP and the people we serve,” the NWC appealed.
