Pep Guardiola Extends Manchester City Reign with New Two-Year Deal-OXYGIST

Manchester City’s iconic manager, Pep Guardiola, has committed his future to the club, signing a new two-year contract that keeps him at the Etihad Stadium until 2027. The announcement on Thursday confirms that the Spaniard, who is already a club legend, will celebrate a decade at City in the summer of 2026, having initially joined from Bayern Munich in 2016.

Guardiola, 53, has an incredible track record with the Citizens, amassing 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles and a coveted Champions League triumph. While his contract was set to expire at the end of this season, he chose to extend his stay, influenced partly by the challenges the team faced during a recent four-game losing streak.

"At the start of the season, I was considering that this might be my last one," Guardiola admitted to the club’s website. "But during the tough moments we faced last month, I realized it wasn’t the right time to leave. I felt it would let the club down. Something inside told me I needed to stay."

The decision to remain wasn’t solely about the struggles, but also about the deep connection he feels with the club. "Manchester City means so much to me," Guardiola shared. "This is my ninth season here, and we’ve experienced incredible moments together. I have a special bond with this club, and I’m thrilled to continue for two more seasons."

Expressing his gratitude, Guardiola extended thanks to everyone who has supported him throughout his journey. "Thank you to the owner, Chairman Khaldoon, Ferran, Txiki, the players, and of course, the fans. It has always been an honor and a privilege to be here. I’ve said it before—City gives me everything a manager could wish for, and I’m truly grateful."

With his eyes set on the future, Guardiola remains ambitious. "Our focus now is to add more trophies to the ones we’ve already won. That’s the goal, and I look forward to achieving it together with this amazing team and everyone at Manchester City."
