Two suspected phone robbers have been apprehended in Minna, Niger State, following a report from a victim who was robbed of his mobile phone. The Niger State Police Command confirmed that officers from the Kpakungu Police Division arrested Azifi Lawal, aka Maka, 25, and Abubakar Saidu, aka Yaro, on October 31, 2024.

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, explained that the arrests were made after receiving the victim’s complaint. “Upon receiving the report, our operatives gathered credible intelligence that led to the arrest of the two suspects,” Abiodun stated.

According to the police report, the victim boarded a tricycle from the Gidan-Kwano area heading toward Dama, with two other passengers already on board. Along the way, the suspects allegedly conspired to rob the victim of his phone and then fled into a nearby bush.

They also named an associate, Mubarak from the Dutsen-Kura area, as a member of their gang. The police are currently conducting further investigations to recover the stolen phones and apprehend the remaining suspect.
