A tricycle operator, Nnamdi Nnebe, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his brother's wife, Mrs. Njideka Nnebe, in Umuokpu Awka, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The altercation reportedly began over children playing in Nnebe's tricycle parked within the family compound. According to Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, media aide to the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, the misunderstanding escalated on Friday, November 15, 2024.
Mrs. Nnebe recounted that Nnamdi mistook one of the children in the tricycle for her son. A heated exchange followed, during which he returned to his apartment, retrieved a knife, and attempted to attack her. In an effort to defend herself, Mrs. Nnebe raised her hand, sustaining a deep stab wound.
This shocking incident highlights the dangers of letting minor disputes escalate into violence. The authorities have reiterated the importance of conflict resolution and warned against taking matters into one’s own hands.
The police investigation is ongoing, and the Anambra State government has vowed to ensure the law takes its course.
