A devastating incident has rocked the Elebele community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, as a 22-year-old man, identified as Godwin, reportedly stabbed his mother to death.
Sources claim that Godwin accused his late mother of obstructing his destiny and preventing his wealth. The tragedy unfolded just weeks after he returned to the community from Benin City, Edo State, exhibiting unusual behavior.
Some residents recounted that prior to the incident, a pastor had allegedly warned the deceased to avoid accepting strange gifts from her son. Others shared that Godwin had claimed a “Baba” had told him his mother was holding back his progress.
On the fateful day, an argument reportedly escalated into a violent altercation, leading Godwin to stab his mother in the stomach. Comrade Precious Okala, the Youth President of Elebele Community, confirmed the harrowing event, stating that upon arrival at the scene, the mother’s lifeless body was discovered while the suspect had been restrained by community youths.
Bayelsa State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Musa Mohammed, confirmed the incident. The case has since been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation.
