A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) presided over by Justice Maryann has dismissed the bail application filed by Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State.
The court rejected the application on procedural grounds, stating it was filed prematurely. According to Justice Maryann, the bail request was submitted on November 22, four days before Bello was officially taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on November 26.
The former governor was subsequently arraigned in court on November 27. The timing discrepancy led to the dismissal of the bail application.
