Nollywood superstar Funke Akindele has set another record with her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, which has officially become the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time.
The milestone was announced by FilmOne, the movie’s distributor, in a celebratory Instagram post.
The post read:
“Everybody Loves Jenifa has officially reached a historic ₦1.466 billion (and counting) at the box office, making it the highest-grossing film of all time! A massive THANK YOU to our incredible audiences in Nigeria and Ghana for making this dream a reality! Your support means everything. On to even greater heights! Still showing in cinemas near you—experience the magic on the big screen.”
The film achieved the remarkable feat of crossing the ₦1 billion mark within just two weeks of its release, further cementing Akindele’s reputation as a powerhouse in Nollywood.
This latest triumph comes on the heels of her record-breaking success last year with A Tribe Called Judah, the first Nollywood film to surpass the ₦1 billion mark.
With Everybody Loves Jenifa setting a new benchmark, Funke Akindele continues to reign as the queen of Nollywood, dominating the Nigerian box office and captivating audiences across the continent.
