Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has candidly shared details of her harrowing childhood and personal struggles during an interview with her colleague Biola Bayo on the talk show Talk to B.
In a deeply emotional revelation, Iyabo disclosed that she had been raped five times in her life. She emphasized the prevalence of rape apologists in society and made it clear that she would stand against anyone accused of such acts, including her own son, if necessary.
“I was raped five times in my life. I discovered we have a lot of rape apologists. I don’t care who the person is; even if it’s my son, I will come for him unapologetically,” she said.
The actress also spoke about her tumultuous relationship with her father, who disowned her when she insisted on marrying her late husband. Iyabo recounted how her father’s struggles with alcohol and drug addiction ultimately led to his untimely death at the age of 40.
“My dad did everything—alcohol and drugs—which messed him up at a young age. He died at 40,” she shared.
Iyabo revealed that she was raised by her grandmother and did not meet her mother until she was about seven years old.
“I grew up with my grandmother, who is half Delta and half Igbo. I think I was seven before I knew my mother,” she said.
The actress was previously married to Mr. Ademidun Ojo, the father of her two children, Priscilla and Festus. However, the marriage ended shortly after the birth of their children. Reflecting on her past, Iyabo described her marriage as an “adventure” fueled by her need for attention, which her ex-husband provided at the time.
Speaking further, Iyabo revealed that her first encounter with poverty was during her marriage, a stark contrast to her earlier life.

“I experienced poverty for the first time when I married my ex-husband. It was an adventure for me because I was craving attention, which he provided then,” she explained.
The actress also recounted the painful names and criticisms she endured, both within the movie industry and society at large, because of her divorce.
