Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has taken a significant step to enhance the Kwankwasiyya Media Forum’s efforts in public engagement by approving ₦30 million in funding. The announcement came during an empowerment program held on Monday at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano.
Governor Yusuf praised the forum for its tireless dedication to promoting the policies and programs of his administration, emphasizing its role in bridging the gap between the government and the citizens. He described the group as a vital tool for enlightening the public about the developmental strides of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano.
“The Kwankwasiyya Media Forum has been instrumental in ensuring that our people stay informed and connected to our vision for progress,” Yusuf stated. “Even the smallest gestures of support can inspire greatness and make a lasting impact.”
This empowerment program was particularly noteworthy as it coincided with the governor’s 62nd birthday, marking a historic start to the year 2025.
Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson, confirmed in a statement that the ₦30 million contribution aims to bolster the forum’s capacity for public advocacy and education. Governor Yusuf encouraged the forum to maintain its professional and respectful approach when engaging with opposition parties, noting that such tactics are vital for fostering constructive dialogue and winning over critics.
The governor also commended the forum’s leadership, including Chairman Alhaji Nagoda Murtala Zawai, Nura Bakwankwashe, and Ali Gyara Hausawa, for their dedication to supporting media practitioners and strengthening public awareness of government initiatives.
Governor Yusuf assured the forum of continued collaboration, announcing plans to meet with its executive members to explore additional ways to empower their activities and expand their reach.
Earlier, Chairman Alhaji Nagoda revealed that the forum had independently raised ₦11 million through contributions from NNPP supporters, commissioners, and government aides to support empowerment programs for media professionals.
With this financial boost, the Kwankwasiyya Media Forum is poised to amplify its efforts in bridging the communication gap between the government and the people, ensuring Kano’s residents remain informed and engaged.
