Enzo Maresca Confirms Filip Jorgensen as Chelsea’s First-Choice Goalkeeper

Enzo Maresca Confirms Filip Jorgensen as Chelsea’s First-Choice Goalkeeper-OXYGIST

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has reaffirmed his decision on the club’s first-choice goalkeeper for the remainder of the season. Despite previous criticism from fans for favoring Robert Sanchez over Filip Jorgensen, the Italian manager has now made it clear that Jorgensen will continue as the starting goalkeeper.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Brighton, Maresca stated:

“Our keeper in the Premier League at this moment is Filip Jorgensen. I spoke with Robert a few days before West Ham, and I haven’t spoken to him again. Filip knows the situation as well. This is the situation right now.”

Jorgensen started in Chelsea’s recent victory against West Ham United, and Maresca hopes his presence in goal will help secure another win against Brighton.

With striker Nicolas Jackson ruled out for eight weeks, Maresca also addressed the club’s attacking concerns. When asked about potential replacements, he hinted at different tactical adjustments.

“Christo (Christopher Nkunku) could be one of the solutions, but he’s not the only one. I’ve considered Christo a key player since the beginning. When you don’t have a proper No. 9, you have to adjust not just the striker but the way the team plays.”

Chelsea fans have expressed frustration over the team’s inconsistent performances, with some questioning Maresca’s tactics. A win against Brighton could help ease the mounting pressure on the manager as he works to stabilize the squad.
