Colombian superstar Shakira has been hospitalized after experiencing abdominal complications on Saturday night, forcing her to cancel her scheduled concert in Lima, Peru.
The Hips Don’t Lie singer, 48, shared the news via her Instagram Stories, revealing that she had been taken to the emergency room and is currently under medical supervision.
"I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized," Shakira wrote in her statement.
Doctors have advised that she is not in a condition to perform, leading to the cancellation of her highly anticipated show in Lima. Expressing her disappointment, she added, "I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I've been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru."
Despite the setback, Shakira remains optimistic about her recovery. "I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform," she stated, assuring fans that her team and promoters are already working on rescheduling the concert.
She concluded her message with gratitude, writing, "Thank you all for your understanding. I love you all. — Shak."
