Dr. Ikenna Odife, Head of the Department of History and International Studies at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), has broken his silence on the recent altercation between a student, Precious Mbakwe, and a lecturer. Expressing deep concern, he questioned the student’s psychological stability and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
Precious Mbakwe made headlines after a viral video showed her physically attacking a lecturer who interrupted her while she was recording a dance video. The incident has since generated widespread debate, prompting the university management to take action.
In response, the university has announced the formation of a committee to investigate the matter and ensure appropriate measures are taken.

Speaking to the university press, Dr. Odife described the act as both shocking and unacceptable. He emphasized the need to assess the student's psychological well-being, stating that such behavior demands a deeper examination.
“This investigation should be holistic. There should be an interrogation of the girl’s background, beginning from childhood to her present state as a university undergraduate,” he asserted.
The case continues to unfold as the university committee delves into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Unizik lecturer has shared his own side of the story, while the HOD of the girls’s department ( History and International Studies) also had something to say about the situation.
